gastric ulcers

gastric ulcers may not be rare (rare means a case a year , LP= less than 5 per thousand) in children.
peptic ulcers (ulcers in stomach and upper small intestine)are divided into gastric and duodenal ulcers. DU are associated with H. pylori GU are more common. Stress and drugs predispose to ulcers. Upper endoscopy and Ba meal is diagnostic. If H. pylori is +treatment is different. Acids are induced by food with caffeine. Complicatons include perforation, bleeding andobstructions. H. pylori is diagnosed by blood antibodies, stool, breath test and biopsy
